With reference to äir Miles Lampson's
despatch No. 8150 of November 29th, I have the honour
to report that in each of my last two conversations
with the Minister for Yoreign Affairs, on December 8th
and 13th, I have mentioned the subject of the suppression
of piracy at Bins Bay. On the first occasion Baron
Tanaka responded vaguely, as if the subject was not
familiar; on the 18th instant, he was still rather vaÆTUM
but æxid that he had no objection to the proposals of
the Ministers at Peking. It is evidently not be
personally who is interested in the question of piracy
at Haichow,
